I have a inherited a large rosemary bush on my allotment, it is about 5 foot tall. It looks like it has a green mildew on the branches and is very dry and a white haze to it. Do I have to prune and how can I make it look healthy again.
Many thanks in advance
Jo
If it is 5 ft high, I would think that there is very little wrong with it. I would only cut out any dead branches. Rosemary is very slow growing and needs very little pruning. When you use rosemary in cooking, you are pruning it.
Rosemary does look very dry. The leaves are hard with silvery undersides and the older branches are dry and gnarled.
This is a good description of our plant and it flourishes each year. I should wait and see. Cheers, Tony.
