Pear tree in a pot.

  A few days ago my neighbour and I transferred a pear tree (type unknown) from her pot to mine. The recent rain seems to have helped it to settle down. There are purple buds which seem healthy. I have no experience with pears and so would appreciate any advice re care and pruning. Cannot post a picture but the shape seems fine apart from a shoot or two crossing or growing inwards. It is in a courtyard garden in a position to take maximum benefit of sunlight. I won't do anything further to it without advice.

  I don't have experience of 'containerised' trees but this is how I grow my 'minarette' varieties.
  
  I would have thought containerised trees will require similar culture procedures apart from the pot, which I would say wants filling with a soil based compost equivalent to JI 3

  Thanks Tee Gee, that link is very useful. I think I shall just watch, water carefully, and wait. I do not know what the compost was initially and so shall add some JI 3 for the worms to distribute. Pruning seems to be deferred until after picking. .... hope there will be some fruit to pick. I am certainly looking forward to the blossom.
