in october/november i planted japennese onion and another winter onion. i went down to the allotment today first time in a few months. our onions i have noiced have only just started growing! why would this be? shall i just leave them in the soil now? will they grow?
I think they are fine. They will just have a small green shoot coming out of the top. Once the weather warms up they will take off. If you pulled one up, they would have a quite an extensive root system. I presume that thats what they do in winter to get themselves established rather than putting top growth on
