My greenhouse borders are covered with a green layer (mould-like). I think I should probablyhave ventilated it better over the winter and am concerned about putting seedlings in there. Is there anything you can suggest I treat it with to remove the "infection"? Thank you

Dry it out and dig it over. It's not infected, it'll be fine.

You do need better ventilation though and less watering smiley - biggrin

    Hi beandreaming,
Two things here, (1) your greenhouse soil should be change every year,
and the greenlayer you've said you have is not a place i'd put any seeds i'd bought into,

My own greenhouse has been unheated all winter but ive had verious plants in there to keep them frost free and ive no greenish/mold

To use this soil again i feel is asking for trouble.
Ask yourself this question, Would you go to the garden centre and buy a bag full of greenish/mold like compost or soil to start your seeds off ,,,??????????

    (2) Seed compost is designed for starting seeds off; (correct texture & moisure content, plus its light enough for seeds to push through.

If your soil is in such a state? then the greenhouse without a doubt needs a spring clean and disinfectant pre any growing plans,
Plus a smoke grenade will ensure anything hiding inbetween the frame work etc will be delt with.
Thats if you want to avoid damping off of your plants plus what ever infections thrive on damp & mold like conditions.

Give both your plants and yourself a chance to thrive by .

    Regards punpun.
