Hi. I have a bay bush in a pot and this year I want to re-pot it but there are 2 main trunks which I want to divide into 2 plants. Is it possible to separate it or will I damage the roots by cutting the roots. I have try to propagate but was unsuccessful. Any advice will be greatly appreciately
You can try but the result will almost certainly be two dead halfs.
Are you sure it's two main trunks or one major offshoot? The best time to propogate from a bay is towards early summer, or when you have established new growth. They're usually one of the easiest things to propogate.
what method do use? My small bay bush isn't looking too healthy after the winter so I wish I'd taken cuttings last year
Bays often provide rooted shoots at the base. These can be taken out and repotted.
Hi realfood, when is the best time to repot the Bay bush? is Spring or Autumn
Spring as they will have the Summer to get established.
