Hello all,
Yay, spring is finally here! I've just planted my first seeds - I've never grown from seed before so it's really exciting!
I'm growing minibel tomatoes from a seed swap fair, and can't find any info on whether they will need support when I plant them out into their final pots. I guess that because they're a dwarf bush variety they don't, but I'd just like confirmation if possible...
If anyone else has grown this variety and has any tips they'd be very gratefully received!
Thanks!
Springfieldbean
I would provide some form of support, just to be on the safe side. Nothing more awkward than trying to pop in supports when the beasts are fully laden with fruit. Cheers, Tony.
Usually grows 45-90cms.
I'd pop in a cane to stop any flopping over.
Hello
I'm growing Minibel tomatoes from seed too I grew them last year as well in a pot, I did not support them and they were fine. On the seed packet I have it says compact plant ideal for pots or in the ground or in hanging baskets/growing bags, and requires no support or pinching out, abundant,bite-sized tomatoes with sweet flavour.
Last year my tomatoes took a long time to ripen hopefully this year they will ripen faster they were grown out side in a pot about 30cms deep.
Thanks all - it sounds as though I'll be ok with or without support! Think I'll try them different ways and see what works best for me.
Now just hoping the seedlings appear soon!
