Sugar snaps are easy to grow, just like any other pea.

Dwarf varieties are easiest. The growth habit will be stated on the seed packet. Dwarfs grow to about 2' or a bit more and need only token support when growing. Sticks in the ground for them to cling to would do the job. You can get away without supporting them but strong winds will flatten them.

Dig over the soil, add some compost if you have it, but don't fertilise. Peas of any sort don't need fertiliser. In fact they create their own nitrogen in the soil.

Plant the seeds a couple of inches deep and about three inches apart. If you want to grow more than one row, space the rows a couple of feet apart. If you're going to support them, place the supports in place when you sow the seeds.

If the soil's dry, water well, then wait for the seedlings to appear. Don't water again before they appear.

And that's it, really. They don't take long to grow, and make sure you harvest as soon as they're nice and plump. Don't let them get too old and starting to dry out.

I agree with Italophile, Sugarsnap peas are easy peasy, (sorry). I would suggest you cover them with netting, our pigeons think Chistms has come if the peas are left out, s I found to my cost a couple of years ago.

I agree with the above, peas are easy to grow, they don't grow too tall either and you can pop the pods to taste them whilst they are growing but probably not with with suger snap.

I grew mangetout and petit pois last year, they'll germinate on damp kitchen paper in a plastic container, kept in the dark in just a few days.
