One of the easiest and quickest crops for children to grow are pea shoots.Alys Fowler and just recently Nigel Slater on a cookery program have featured them.
Just sow some dried peas from the supermarket (so cheap) and the shoots come up in no time and they are really tasty in a salad. I sowed some today in a shallow cardboard box that had fruit in it, lined with a bin liner.
I grew them last year and they did well. They are lovely with salad as well and I found that they lasted all summer with careful picking.
Planted mine last week and they are just popping through. My granddaughter loved them last year.
