4 days holly-days this week and I'm allotment bound! Yippee!
My car is packed and groaning under the weight of seed potatoes, onion and shallot sets, cells of spring peas, some fartichokes, the last few fruit bushes, bare-root roses, strawberry plants, pots of pansies, summer bulbs for cutting, masses of cardboard boxes for mulching everything and my camping stuff!!!!
I'm having 4 days of barbecue food, camp stove soup, bonfires (wood ash fertiliser ) and lots and LOTS of gardening!!!!!
Spring is here

sounds fun hope you are haveing a good time
vastly jealous! Here's to a fantastic year on your allotment!
I had the same last week, too, using up the last of my holiday, and had a great time, got the early potatoes in and all the onion sets planted. Cheers to all companies whose holiday year ends in March!
Oh my gosh! 4 days of rain! No fair weather allotmenteer here!
The field was too wet to drive on so I had to drag everything in Ikea bags 400m from the gate to the lottie. My potatoes are now swimming until the drains kick in. I thought my weed fabric was going to take off, parachute style and a whole hour one day was spent weighting it down with all the pots, sticks, plants, wheelbarrow, goods that I could find.
I came home with four pairs of jeans with crusty wet/dried mud up to the knees, a pair of manky boots, my tent got abandoned for a memory foam mattress and electric blanket at my Dads. But I now feel whole again I also found two mice nests with babies in. Made it all worthwhile. I'm super excited for the summer!
Oh goodness. I guess the planning goes out the window where the weather is concerned !
Personally, I would rather have been on a wet lotty than at work.
Good luck for this year. I`m sure the weather will improve soon (fingers crossed)
