I have a quantity of wood ash. Is it suitable for spreading over the veg plot?

Yes, though it might be best put round fruit trees or bushes. If you have large quantities from a wood-burner stove, it will do no harm if you put it in the compost haeap as well.
Think of what grows well round volcanoes!!
Boy! That's ash!
Once the plants get growing...... a..n..y..t..h..i..n..g!
I have a log burning fire and usually put wood ash on my veg plot. It's greatly improved the texture of my heavy clay soil, and is very good for tomatoes once they start flowering. In fact, I tend to put it all round the garden!
I can't see how knowing how much ash or how big the veg patch was would help. It was a perfectly reasonable question, and quite undeserving of your reply Clearence.
I presume what you really wanted to know is the rate of application.
You can apply up to 20 pounds per 100 square feet annually, if the ash is worked into the soil about 6 inches or so.
Remember never to apply big piles!
