hello, I have received free pack of carrot seeds from Daily Newspaper and as i don't have a large enough garden, was wondering if i could grow them in large plastic containers instead ?
if so, what sort of compost should i use, is multi-purpose okay ?
many thanks
sharon
Yes, you can grow in containers providing they're deep enough, at least 10". You can use a multi-purpose mix but break up any lumps. Don't over-fertilise. Sow liberally and thin out as the seedlings appear.
I have grown carrots in pots before without any problems. Multi purpose compost should do the job just fine.

I have grown Nantes and Chanty's. I prefer a soil based compost but they are reliable providing you water regularly. I plant them close up in containers, and thin as they grow.
