I've been growing some rocket in a seed tray on the kitchen windowsill. It shot up really quick to about 2-3 inches tall but has slowed down and at the moment just looks like large cress. Is this right? Will they get any bigger and more like the rocket shaped leaves you get in the shops?
It sounds as if the seedlings still only have their seed leaves. They also sound as though they are a bit 'leggy' and perhaps overcrowded. Can you move them into more light? How many seeds did you sow into what sized container?
I'd move them outside into the light. Doesn't matter if it's cool, rocket loves cool weather. I sowed mine outside about a month ago and it's booming.

Depends on the rocket you've got - have a look on the front of the packet for the shape of the leaves.
The rocket I often buy round here has really jaggy leaf edges but the stuff i grow in the garden has a softer more rounded leaf shape.
i am now on my 3rd sowing of rocket as i love it so much and dont wont to run out over the summer!!
The jagged leafed rocket is wild rocket, which is a perennial. The rounded leafed one is salad rocket which isn't. I have wild rocket here, which overwintered with no protection, and I've cut loads off it - in fact the more I cut, the more it seems to grow. Yum.
