    Hi ALL?
Well the weather here today is just smashing, sunny / very warm and what i call a happy day tobe in the garden.

I painted the back of our home last year and now i can do something about planting verious climbers to help give that nice summer look around the back of the house,
And so ive bought some roof battens from the builders yard and im going to make a few trellis frames for the clematis plants ive also bought,

If you thinking of planting clematis?
ive a tip that will help this climber to grow and its this,

Re pot the plant into a larger tube than the pot you bought the plant in and plant the tube into the ground,

I use old plastic drain pipe as the tube.
The reason being is that clematis like to keep the roots very cool and by using the tube method you'll soon find the plant settles down quickly and is easy to feed via the tube when feeding is needed.

Also the tube if planted just above the ground level is a safe guard when using a strimmer, As your more inclined to hit the hard plastic tube rather than the clematis shoots.

You can also get clematis climbers that have a really nice smell and lovely flower heads,
A well worth while idea if you want a simple to look after climber,
and by using the roofer battens the complete cost can be a lot cheaper than ready made bought trellis.
