Hi every one, can some of the experts here can give me some advices. Last week with the heat wave, one of the blueberry plant which is a year old only with a few tender leaves got burnt, is it to sunny on a south facing wall. the second blueberry plant started nicely with leaves and some little berries, after the heat wave, the berries have disappeared and some leaves gone brown. I wonder if the site of the plants is to expose to the sun and the second plant is to weak to produce the berries (last year the little berries appeared and fell before maturing) Does it need feeding and moving to a less sunny site. They are both planted in black buckets
The black buckets might be the problem. They absorb warmth enormously and heat up the contents. The plants like a sunny location so perhaps think about repotting into something a lighter colour.
They need ericaceous compost too.
And also need plenty of water
Hi Italophile:
I will take your advice to change the black bucket.
lokelani: I have always use ericaceous compost for blueberry plant.
lilylouise: The compost is always damp, never looks dry soil.

Why are they planted in black buckets?
If your soil is not acid, take out a hole, twice the width and depth of the buckets that your plants are in, and fill with ericaceous compost, then plant the blueberries in that.
If you have any fir trees near you, collect some leafmould from under them and use as a top dressing in the autumn.
