Good afternoon,
I have my frist stawberry today, has anybody else got their any yet? does it mean because they started ripe off early is it ok to pick them?
many thanks Leigh
if they are red and ripe eat them , just the green stage here .
How lovely - Give it a month.
All but one of my strawberry plants died over the winter and the one remaining one has four flowers on with tiny green buds waiting to turn into big fat strawberries.
Although it is doing very well there is only the one plant so unfortunately there won't be enough to share
Are your strawberries outdoor?
I have some in the polytunnel and have been getting 5 - 10 every day for the last 5 days. The outdoor ones, however, are only starting to flower now.
We picked our first outdoor strawberries at the weekend. If I was you I would eat them quick before something does. They do seem to be early this year due the great weather in April, although it only rained here (Berkshire) once in the whole month. Just hope they don't finish early as well.
my strawberries are outside I grown mine in a old dustbin.
regards foodchat
Planted strawbs for the first time this year, a mixture of earlies, main and lates. Got a few that look ready to eat now, we're in Middx. I'm gonna let the wife have the honor of the 1st strawberry, the rest are fair game!!
Mine are just flowers just now but lots of them mmmmmm
