Thought I was going to have a real bumper crop of gooseberries this year, but when I went to the allotment on Saturday, the ground under the bushes is strewn with fallen unripe fruits. Any ideas what might have caused this?
Have they been regularly watered? I had the same thing happen to me last year - unfortunately I was on holiday for 2 weeks and they didn't get watered much, so the fruits dropped.
I have had the same problem but I have been watering the plants so it shouldn't be lack of water. We had a frost just before I noticed the "drop", could this be the reason?
Actually I never thought of that. Up here in the Northeast we did have a frost last week which killed of my beans (which I had tried unsuccessfully to protect). I now see someone on the Garden Clinic has reported the same problem
