whats the best feed for rhubarb I have six tubs of rhubarb and they look not very well and I think they need feeding can anyone tell me whats best to feed them please thanks Steve
How long have you had the crowns?
Did they get frosted over winter-they need a spell of cold weather to perform well.
Could be one of those crops that don't do well in tubs and might be too cossetted and need harsh treatment- the old joke about putting manure on rhubarb is true.
They do need dividing occasionally but are usually troublefree.
'OSS MUCK' pure and simple. Cannot beat it for rhubarb. Cheers, Tony.
Thanks for that m8 do you think that 6X will be any good or just Horse Muck as I have the two Pur Horse muck and a bag of that 6X manure
I find the best thing on rhubarb is custard. Seriously either would be OK.
Hiya,
If the rhubarb is in pots I'd recommend checking for vine weevil grubs in the roots. I grew some in a pot for while and it didn't do very well at all ... when I tipped it out to plant on the plot it was full of grubs which is why it was so poorly... nematodes are the only answer to help keep them in check I'm afraid.
