My courgettes are still in pots waiting to go out and have flower buds forming, shall I take the risk and plant them out? Punpun any thoughts?
I cut my first courgette today, they've been out since mid April. I have been on standby with fleece though! I'm in a fairly sheltered walled garden on the southern edge of Dartmoor.
Hi Grejean,
If any help I am going to plant mine courgettes and sweetcorn out this afternoon.
Food chat
I risked mine a while ago & they're flowering now. I am in the south though & had fleece ready for their first few nights. They're in big pots near the house wall so probably get some protection from that.
Maybe hold one back as an insurance policy if you're somewhere colder.
Are you in France Grajean, if so which part.
I was in the south for a couple of weeks in April and my brother's neighbour has turned her garden into a veg plot.
It's suprising during the day the temp got to 28 or 29 yet the evening temps dropped dramtically. She has some veg out like lettuce and spuds but not yet toms and their GC's have veg in which is at the same stage in growth as ours despite the warmer weather.
In that part of France they've not had snow since Adam was a lad, I couldn't image frost at this time of year.
I'd say go for it but save one in reserve if you have extra's
If you were here in the NW of England I'd advise you to wait, berrr... it's cold....

Zoomer I am in NW France and we haven't had rain for over 2 weeks, today is again warm and sunny. I have now planted out courgettes. Lettuces are doing well and peas but the mixed cut and come again salad just doesn't want to grow.
Just wondering how your courgettes are fairing Grajean.
Mine were planted out in flower buckets, they've huge leaves and the female buds have long courgettes behind, I've male buds with long narrow tails but no flowers yet from either male or female although they arre threatening to bloom hopefully in the next few weeks none have been pollinated.

Why? Mine have been outside since April.
