    Hi

My town is getting allotments this year, but various red-tape issues mean that the plots won't be ready until mid-June... I've got a few things growing in my back-garden which will hopefully survive until then, some beans, peas, courgettes, onion sets and onions from seed. But, the big question is, what can I plant in late June? I'm in the west of Ireland, so the season won't be that long.... Has anyone got any suggestions?

    Thanks to all!!

    Anne

The obvious things are any of the salad crops and annual herbs - also you can try baby beetroot, early carrots, kohl rabi, baby turnips, spinach, and all the things which really should be planted late anyway (like Chinese cabbage, pak choi and a lot of the oriental vegetables) Also things to overwinter, like kale, sprouting broccoli, spring cabbage, overwintering broad beans etc

But if you have a back garden where you are now, you can start lots of things off in pots right now and they should be ready to go in when you move - cabbages, cauliflowers, romanesco cauliflowers, brussels sprouts, calabrese, spinach beet, all sorts of things like that

In fact apart from things like courgettes and tomatoes there isn't much you couldn't try. I'm not sure, but in the west of Ireland maybe you don't get very early frosts so you could be lucky with a lot of things
