I thought I'd try to be ever so advanced this year and get some of the new grafted veggies, so I ordered some grafted tomatoes and aubergines. The tomatoes are growing fine but ALL of the expensive grafted aubergines have turned up their toes - the leaves have wilted and the plants died practically overnight.
I've sifted through the compost and can't find any grubs or anything like that. Any suggestions as to what might have happened? As I said, the tomatoes are doing well so it seems something peculiar to the aubergines
What a drag , I would contact the supplier , the least they can do is give you a refund ; any reputable company would . Still time to get in new plants.
DEFINATELY get back to the supplier, at that price you deserve good plants!

Which? Gardening tested grafted tomatoes and concluded that for amateur gardeners grafted plants weren't worth the considerable extra expense.
Many thanks for the advice - I'll get on to the supplier as you suggest. As for the Which report, that's extremely interesting: I hadn't heard that. Oh well, I've already planted the grafted tomatoes so at the end of the year I'll see if I agree
