I never buy peat pots but now someone's given me a big pile of them. I know how they work - you sow seeds in them and then just plant out the whole pot. But can anybody recommend some plants that this would be particularly useful for? I never have any problems with de-potting or pricking out seedlings so I'm not sure what I should be doing with these

    Thanks

    Hi,
I have used these for runner beans, peas, sunflowers, any big seed,as with small seeds i think it easier to prick out and plant on rather than try to plant individual small seed in these.
Someone more well informed than me will be able to help you
    i am sure.
    Sue

They can be useful with two provisos, in my experience. Make sure they are well soaked when you plant out and remove the top rim, or make sure it is under the soil, otherwise it acts like a wick and dries everything out.

Otherwise, they are fine; You can use them for anything you normally raise in pots or RootTrainers; they're better than using loo roll centres; it's nice to get 'free gifts'.
