Germinated 12 in cell trays last month & planted them out 3 weeks ago today.
No frost & I've given them a fair amount of water. In spite of that they have grown very little & have acquired a yellowish look. The ground was composted beforehand. Household compost not horse manure. Can anyone help?
You do not say where you are, but it has been far too cold and windy over most of the UK for French beans. Try and provide some cloche protection.
You do not say where you are, but it has been far too cold and windy over most of the UK for French beans. Try and provide some cloche protection. For that reason I only germinated my French and Borlotti beans 2 weeks ago. They are currently 2-3 inches tall and (hopefully) snug in the greenhouse. All we need now is for late May to feel less like late October. I'm in Birmingham and today was really quite cold.
I am just about to plant some French beans seeds.
It is a good time to do it.
