I planted some new raspberry canes in the late autumn, and was relieved to see they had survived the harsh winter. Each of the 5 little canes now has a tuft of leaves and a few tiny fruits, but only one of them seems to be putting up any new growth to form next year's canes. Does this mean I won't get any canes or fruit next year? Is there anything I can do about this - should I cut the exisiting canes down to the ground now? Or am I just being impatient?
I would say give it time - but you must make sure they are well watered in this dry weather.
Did you plant Summer fruiting canes or Autumn fruiting canes?
Sorry, I should have said - they're summer canes (Glen Somethingorother).
