    Yesterday i brought two asparagus plants! I have never grow it before. Do yet get many from each plant? Do i pick next year? Do they grow through the winter? Thank you.

    Plant now, cut to ground in winter, don't touch until winter 2012 when you'll cut them back to ground again. Late Spring 2013 enjoy your first (small) harvest. 2014 onwards you'll be able to increase the yield year on year.

    Agree with the previous poster but I would increase your plants if you can. 2 plants will not give you many spears at any one time. At least 5 plants but preferably 10 would be nearer the mark.

    I planted 8 asparagus crowns in my garden about five weeks ago. Only one appears to be growing or do they take a long time to appear? Two crowns that I planted in empty compost bags in a small amount of soil ( I had run out of space in my garden) seem to be growing well. I have been on holiday since they were planted but they had been watered regularly whilst I was away.
