Collected two trailer loads of horse/pony manure last weekend. It is quite fesh - not rotted and it doesn't smell at all - but it is very dry probably because we haven't had any appreciable rain here for nearly three months. I have stacked it in two of our pallet compost bins. Should I just leave it to rot down or should it be watered as it is so dry. The two heaps have already started to shrink.

I should have rained with you by now - if not water it and then cover it so that it doesn't dry out again over the summer.I would cover it with an old piece of carpet or the like to help retain the moisture amd the heat.
