I have several old recycle boxes full of potatoes and would like to add a granular fertilizer.
I realise growmore, is not too good as it may just lead to excess leaf growth and no growth in the potato tubers.
What is the best granular fertilizer for potaotoes please ?
thankyou
i want to just be able to water, with a hose throughout the year, without having to bother with feeding again. I may give them a folia feed though wit the watering can, once in a while with my tomato fertilizer
This is a good potato fertilzer, however not available as slow release
Note the NPK breakdown, 6%N 5%P2O5 10%K2O + 6%Mg, so see if you replicate it with another product?
Hello BM4444
According to Dr D.G. Hessayon's book, "The Vegetable and Herb Expert," raking in Growmore granular fertiliser about two weeks before planting is one of the best things you can do for potatoes and root vegetables, and was given a star rating in the book.
Others may have a different experience and opinion.
Thank you for the replies.
I'll stick with the Growmore eoption ... a bit cheaper than the specialist fertilizer.

Nothing wrong with Growmore. I don`t know how these rumours get spread around.
I'm trying this year.
Comes recommended by Joe Maiden. Too soon to know if it suits me yet.
Usually I've bought Potato fertiliser from Thompson and Morgan, but you need to order sometime before christmas or they will have sold out,as I found out this January.
