I bought a packet of Courgette seeds - variety Parador - as I wanted to grow some yellow courgettes on the grounds that I can't buy them in Sainsburys. Out of a packet of 10 expensive seeds - 1 has germinated and grown into a plant which I am now hardening off.
I wanted more than one plant, as last year I only had one and found pollination a problem as I didn't always have a male and female flower at the same time.
So I bought a 98p bog standard courgette and compost pot at Wilkinson's. Out of 11 seeds so far 10 have germinated and are growing like crazy. I soaked both lots in water - the second for longer. I sowed the second lot on their side, the first on end. Both had good compost. Both were grown on the kitchen windowsill under cover of clingfilm. So why didn't my Parador's germinate? Any advice welcome.

Maybe the seeds were not kept well before you bought them. I would take them back to the shop and ask for another packet smiley - smiley

I bought them online! Looked a reputable nursery. Not buying from them again tho. Thanks for the reply - been trying to figure out what I did wrong - nice to hear someone else say I can blame the seeds!

I've never soaked courgette seeds, but if one lot germinated for you the others should too.

If they were in date I'd complain to the retailer, they need to know too.
