Mulching is an absolutr must on my allotment, we all need to conserve moisture and besides my arms are getting longer by the day.

Reading round I've come accross 'living mulches' which are green manures sown as an intercrop between stuff like sweetcorn etc. On the other hand, weeds around plants are a no-no because they use the moisture.

    Any thoughts?

I'd've thought a living mulch would compete for moisture and nutrition, too. Though I do sow green manure crops in the beds I've finished with for the season. An entirely different thing obviously.
