Shallots

    Hi Everyone.

    I am growing shallots in a number of pots / tubs there is a lot of top growth and the bulbs are swelling. When is the right time to harvest.?
    Do the same rules apply to onions?

    Hi Rockyhedge

    Wait until the leaves start to die right down, just like garlic\onions. You'll notice they start to split wide open in the ground as they reach maturity into their clusters.

    *hint* do not dry out in your greenhouse if it looks like rain! Mine part cooked and didn't store at all last year, which is a shame as they were delicious in a Beouf Bourginon....
