I know this gets asked my computer tells me I've asked in before !

Due to a few failures and stuff going to seed early I've got some space in my beds I would like to put something in now.
It seems a crime to leave it with nothing in (I have in the past) when there is so much of the growing season yet to come.

I know there are lots of fast growing salad like leafy things I could sow but I have enough of that and anyway I would like to put in something more substantial and longer maturing say right up the first frost or even to harvest in the winter.

I'm thinking some variety of french bean might just produce in time ....carrots probably, anything else you can suggest please ?

    Sowing now in June

Runner/climbing beans, dwarf french beans, carrots, chickory, endive, kale, lettuce, kohl rabi, peas, beetroot, winter cabbage (bit iffy this one), radish, swedes, sweetcorn, turnips, salad leaves, spring onions. That should keep the soil covered!

I got this list from the June copy of Kitchen Garden, by far the best veggie magazine I've seen. Have a shufti next time your in the newsagents. Cheers, Tony.

Martin, at least you are educated enough to spell the word 'too' correctly. It gets my goat when it is not! Cheers, Tony.
