  Recently entered a local competition for Allotments, judging is sometime during the month of July so have been obsessing over every weed and pest and will be for the next few weeks!
  
  I don't play sport or get too excited when playing monopoly so have been amazed to discover that I have a very competitive side! Great way to give yourself a kick up the bum!
  
  Anyone else entering/entered these things?

  There was a time I would enter flower & veg shows but have now given it up!
  
  If I say so myself I was quite successful at it, this was my haul from the last time I competed!
  
  
  
  
  I had to give up for health reasons!
  
  For a while I missed it .
  
  The camaradery between competitors was brilliant and I looked forward each year to meeting up with old friends who most likely I had not seen from the previous years shows!
  
  Trouble was; each year we were all getting older and you were frightened to ask where is so and so? because sometimes the answer was so final!
  
  Put another way there were less and less of us participating many of the shows ceased to exist through lack of organisers and exhibitors as we were not being replaced by the younger growers.
  
  So it pleases me to hear that you are having a go!
  
  
  Nowadays the extent of my 'competition' is down to the councils annual inspection!
  
  
  They inspect their plots every year and give a trophy to the the winning allotment.
  
  Our plots have won it three times out of the last four years {missed out last year ...second }
  
  We can enter our plots individually!
  
  I did it once but never again I don't like the judging methods but thats another story!
