As I have never grown onions before, What do I do with them now? Clean them up and let them dry off somewhere in the house? Two or three of them are rather pathetic, could I just put them back in again and hope for a bigger one next spring or is that just plain silly?
There is an 'Old gardener's tale' that says if you position the onions so the roots are facing the sun, this will stop them sprouting in storage. I stick mine on a bench in the back garden with a bit of plastic near to hand should a rain shower be approaching. Then string 'em up.
Yes, that is being just plain silly ! ! ! Cheers, Tony.
I stupidly just cut off the small stalks that were left. Ho hum. As I am going a way for almost two weeks I think I leave them in the window for the time being.
