Hello, have only this year started growing a little bit of veg.
Have been growing carrots called "Mr Fothergill's Autumn King 2". Am growing them in large pots as don't have room in the border. Would like to continue growing them and intend to buy the specially made re-usable sacks that you can buy online.
They haven't done too bad but i would like to know if i can grow them through the winter or do i have to buy a different variety ????
thanks

There isn't enough light and warmth to grow carrots right through the winter. You could shell out cash and have a heated greenhouse with undersoil heating elements etc, but it is a lot easier to start again next year with (for example) Early Nantes. Cheers, Tony.
Carrots do not grow through the Winter outside, unless you are in a very mild part of the country.
Thanks for the advice.
Am going to ask a really, really stupid question now and I apologise in advance.
Where do the carrots come from that we buy in winter, are they imported ????
