I have a good supply of mint but as the leaves grow they are getting spotted and mottled with what looks like rust. What could it be and how do I deal with it?
Again the leaves are old and should be cut back.
If they look like that after a few weeks of planting then they don't like where you have planted it, or how you have planted it, so try again.
Mint does take time to..... take, and you have to be patient. It is a fussy plant to start off with. Can't decide whether it likes where you have planted it or not!
Then? When it has decided that it does not really matter too much about soil and location it gets on and grows like ...hell!
Wait for the second year, and then you will be pleased with it.

It's normal, and usually does it after flowering. There's still usable. I wouldn't bother chopping it back, as some kinds won't produce new growth after they've flowered until the following year.
