Hi, I have had a very successful crop of kale this year. Of recent though it is covered in a white fly/aphid?. Whatever it is is not eating the new leaves. Is it still edible?. If I wash it thoroughly can I still use it?. Seems a shame to waste it.

A good wash in salted water and an even better shake. I'm still here and no ill efects. Cheers, Tony.
Great, thanks Tony.

Same hear with the white fly on my cavolo nero like you I washed them off and it seems OK.
However quite a lot of the lower leaves are covered in a white milky bloom I presume is mildew, I've not eaten them. The very bottom leaves go yellow as well and of course they go into the compost, does this seem normal to you or am i losing too much ?
The upper to leaves are alright and I'm eating those, good job I've got a lot as half of it is going in the compost.
