Hi folks
New to this. In process of establishing an orchard. Was watching Countryfile on 28th Dec and Matt tasted an old Victorian apple variety at Tatton Park. Run clip several items but couldn't recognise or subsequently find apple name. Would love to find.
Anyone know what the variety was?
Caz

I can't help directly, but the Orange Pippin site is one of the most comprehensive. Have a look there.

Just looked at Coutryfile. They didn`t say clearly which variety of apple they were eating, but Tatton Park has a website, so you could send them an email.

Using that site you recommended, BG, an apple called Devonshire Quarrenden is listed there, and it seems to fit the description of the apple on Countryfile.

The apple in question is Duchess's Favourite. It is one of 250 heritage fruit trees grown in the Orchard at TP. There are 89 trees in the Orchard Lawn where Matt and Simon were standing. I volunteer garden there and the orchard takes up many days of maintenance in the autumn. If you put the name in a search engine you can find nurseries such as Keeper's who stock this particular apple.

Thanks Yakram. You are a star. I'd been wondering about that apple too.
