I've several different varieties chitting away merrily in the back bedroom, there's no heating on in there and for the most part all are beginning to produce small stocky purplish coloured shoots as expected. Two varieties are certified seed spuds and these are fine.

Last year I bought some varieties from a local potato fair and after getting good crops have done the same this year.

You get what you buy, I assumed they were seed pototoes and didn't look to closely at each spud but this evening after checking them washed a couple of the Red Duke York as they looked a bit nobbly and not what I had expected, they look like they have scab on them in which case they aren't disease free and unlikely to be seed spuds. I'm inclined to throw the affected spuds away and plant out the remainder?
