I have been using marigolds in my greenhouse, to deter pests so I'm advised.
1. Is it any type, as the ones I grow don't seem to smell much?
2. Is there any proof it works?
Thanks
C
Hi,
French marigolds are suposed to protect plants in their vicinity from whitefly although there is no scientific proof, it could be something in the scent of the flowers or the foilage which whiteflies don't like?
I plant marigolds in the GH bed and haven't had a whiterfly problem before, and also plant basil which is suposed to improve the taste of some tomarto varieties and my toms have always tasted good.
I can't say whether planting either works though as I've never not grown them.
