I have a question regarding bay trees. Obviously established bay are very expensive from the garden center so I bought the 'several in a pot' little ones. Dont really know how to describe them except that they look like 12 x 10 inch 'twigs' in a pot.

I assume that these are just very young trees? Can I separate the indicidual stems and replant? or is this some other breed of bay?

Sorry for the lack of pics, I suppose that might have helped!

    12 x 10 inch 'twigs' in a pot.

Looks like you have a pot of hardwood cuttings, so a lot will depend upon how well rooted they are!

If I am right; I would pot them up into individual pots to the depth they are now, and grow them on in a coldframe or a sheltered spot for another year.

This will allow them to establish themselves a bit more, then I would plant them out into their final quarters next year!

I hope this info helps! Tg
