Many of the 麻豆官网首页入口's factual websites will be changing over the next twelve months. These changes will make our content easier to access and better in quality, but they will also mean we do less of some things - including messageboards.
The 麻豆官网首页入口 Gardening messageboard will shortly be closing. The board's contents will not be deleted; all of your discussions, debates and information will remain on the site for your and others' reference. Closure will take place at 11am on Thursday 26 April 2012.
Thank you for being part of this online community and for your contributions to some great conversations.

Not unexpected unfortunately.
Presumably The Archers messageboard will live on.
For crying out loud.

Can this policy be sensible, closing off gardening boards when more people than ever are taking an interest in how to grow our own food, and an interest in our own countryside in general?

It's not sensible at all - and what it saves must be miniscule
Is their a complaints process?

There is a complaints procedure, but it doesn`t get you anywhere.
The people who answer your query all tow the party line; you just get polite fluff back as a reply.

Don't be.
There's the 麻豆官网首页入口 Television message board:
Gardeners's World is 麻豆官网首页入口 TV, so we can start our chat there, simply entitled Gardeners' World".
Hopefully, the likes of what's it cottage, Dave and their cronies will be "gentlemanly" enough, for a change, and leave the rest of us ALONE.
So, see you there!

I don`t watch any TV gardening programmes.

Yes but this is just about allotments, not general gardening.
GARDENERS' WORLD is a 麻豆官网首页入口 TV programme and, now that its specific message board has been eliminated, it seems to me that its natural home should be:
Of course, some of the "old timers" there, will object to the presence of the "new comers" but, given time, I'm rather sure they will accept that as we all pay our 麻豆官网首页入口 fees, the followers of Gardeners' World need to discuss their programme, issues and concerns, just as much any other of its programmes and the issues that naturally flow from them.

Dear Rita, we're discussing the 麻豆官网首页入口 programme called GARDENERS' WORLD.
It, thus, seems to me that the 麻豆官网首页入口 TV forum is the natural place for a 麻豆官网首页入口 programme, its subject matter and concerns, now that its specific forum has been eliminated.

Artemis, you posted a question about your Russian tomato, not thinking that it looked right. I have grown these tomatoes and they do look like that so your's is OK.
By the way, I don't think they like gardeners over on the POV board judging by the comments receive!.
I've looked at the other boards such as TAPS and they just don't work like this one. For instance if you're reading a thread, they waste so much space with silly clip art, banners and quotes that you hardly get any number of messages on a page before you've got to click for the next page.
I like this board because it's very simple and easy to use. There seem to be too many categories and topics on the boards.

Thank you, Sue.
Please see:
It's the GARDENERS' WORLD thread on the 麻豆官网首页入口 Television messageboard. We have, I think, just as much right to use it as anybody else who pays the 麻豆官网首页入口 fee.
Of course, some of them there seem hostile at the moment. They almost give me the impression that they're the owners of the 麻豆官网首页入口 and its messageboards!
However, I do trust that in time they'll become less threatened by the "new comers".

Thank you pumpkins, I have had a look and you are right, it does look more like this board. I know it's going to be a bit commercial 'cause it's linked to a magazine but at least there is no clutter on the actual messages.

Why abandon the 麻豆官网首页入口, lovespumpkins?
I know some of its old users feel possessive about rhe 麻豆官网首页入口 Television messageboard, but that's not an entirely unknown phenomenon.
GARDENERS' WORLD is a 麻豆官网首页入口 programme and it is natural that it should contain a thread relating to it.
Here it is:

I agree with you there Artemis so maybe we should keep posting stuff on there until they give up complaining OR the hosts pull the plug on us.
I will post a reply to your query to start with.
Oh, while waiting for the 3 minute rule to allow me to post again, I popped over to the POV board and see that they've already done that.
Never mind. We might meet up on the Archer's board or the Gardener's World forum. Can't see me going on the others for the reasons stated in my earlier post.

THIS TIME for "Changes to the 麻豆官网首页入口 Gardening messageboard" IS APPROACHING FAST and I think, if we wish to remain a coherent community, we probably need a designated thread on a specific board where we can give each other help and support.
I have looked at the suggested Archers but found it to be all over the place, simply because it's an "off topic" place. However, we need to be quick about our decisions and possible requests/actions.
As Peta has said, the Points of View board will be fine for posting our opinions, etc.,relating to the programme itself, but current rules would consider anything else to be "off topic".
I replied to Peta, mentioning that the PoV board also contains a specific threat, which has nothing to do with the 麻豆官网首页入口, entitled 鈥淣on 麻豆官网首页入口 television chat thread鈥, and perhaps the PoV board can offer to the millions of us who watch GARDENERS' WORLD such a thread. I believe for the purposes of choosing PoV material, the non-麻豆官网首页入口 thread is non-existent, which would also be fine for those of us who simply need a similar thread for help, advice and support.
The excerpt below is taken from my reply to Peta:
excerpt from Message 39
"Finally, I fully appreciate and thank you for your welcoming messages and explanations of what the current rules allow. However, these rules are not God-given, I trust, but simply written by men and women, most likely the former(?), at a time when the needs of millions of the Nation鈥檚 gardening community were adequately provided for. This is no longer the case; so, if the non-麻豆官网首页入口 thread can exist here - I suspect because it is not considered for Points of View - so, perhaps, could not just a thread strictly discussing GW as a programme, the way you suggest, but also another that maybe called GARDENERS鈥 WORLD COMMUNITY MATTERS for subject areas of gardening that the present rules would consider 鈥渙ff - topic鈥 . Is 鈥淢y 麻豆官网首页入口鈥 flexible, willing and understanding enough for such an earth shattering decision? I hope so!"
So, what are your ideas? What is the best we, the millions of GW viewers and 麻豆官网首页入口 fee payers, can do for ourselves? In Granny's words: the child who doesn't cry, doesn't get its milk...
How are we going to achieve what we require?

I have watched your efforts over the past few days and my opinion this is going nowhere-although I commended you for trying.
The POV board is an offshoot of the tv programme and as such is just to discuss 麻豆官网首页入口 tv-a gardening thread just would not attract attention from people seeking advice-nor do I feel is the Archers board.
It is time to accept that the war is lost and move elsewhere- this is what about 40 posters have done already here
Sorry -time to throw in the trowel and move on.

If that's the case, thedogcody, what is the HUGE thread, entitled "non-麻豆官网首页入口 tv chat" doing there?
At least GW is a 麻豆官网首页入口 programme and the millions of its viewers should be given the space to contact each other for advice and support, I think.
I'm quite certain it will be used as extensively as the ones currently available; but, it needs to exist first and to be known to exist.
Regarding the Archers, I fully agree that it's quite hopeless.

There is a monthly 'Potting Shed' thread on gardening in the Village Hall section of the Archers board;
Link to this forum: Changes to the 麻豆官网首页入口 Gardening messageboard
I'm slightly puzzled as to the reason for such defeatism in the light of closure of these message boards. You need an alternative, there is an alternative (quite a few actually)...why can't you accept or at least give a try to the welcoming hand of friendship being offered by The Archers boards?
I've posted here for many years and during which time I've done my best to help less experienced gardeners...but it was never the centre of my universe and although its closure is sad, I think after a period of adjustment, things won't seem so bad.
Link to this forum: Changes to the 麻豆官网首页入口 Gardening messageboard
Thank you, yellowcat.
I have already looked at that but found it somewhat limited in variety of posters and perhaps even subject matter; and it's monthly.
The current boards have an existing community with very varied needs and abilities. My argument is that if we are accommodated as a group, by being offered a thread like the non-麻豆官网首页入口 tv chat, then we will remain an entire group with our knowledge/ability in tact.
I hope you agree!

That was with the dispensation of the host and is about tv.
Think about it- someone has a garden question it get answered by one poster-then another question that gets answered then someone answers the first question an so on before long there is a muddle of questions and answers no direction-you can do that on the Archers board.
But there are no separate threads as you have here.
In time all message boards will close it is not in the 麻豆官网首页入口 remit-we are at their mercy- accept the inevitable-move on
None of us is happy least of all me-not being livy-livered -a phrase that actually I take a bit of exception to and I am sure that is not your intention-just I repeat realistic.

Is a 麻豆官网首页入口 POV tv board a natural place for gardeners to ask questions? and the same question could be asked of the Archers board-a point I put to David the other day on a similar topic-that is not to decry his efforts but again it is a one topic forum.
The only other alternative is to set up your own forum-not difficult but how will you attract members?
What is really the only programme that reaches an audience?-Gardeners World-there is a forum- run by the commercial arm if you will-already in existence.
Again contributors from here are already there-or take up David's and the others offer.

I don't think being monthly is much of a problem, it works for other special interest threads in the 'Village Hall'
As to the limited variety of posters and subject matter, well that just needs more posters posting about more subjects.
I am interested in gardening but don't really have the opportunity to do much as I live in a flat, though I do have a couple of small Meyer lemon trees on the balcony, they are in bud at the moment but once the flowers open the scent will be wonderful. Only got four lemons last year, hoping for more this year. I also have a trough that is full of rocket, that is growing very nicely now.

Profound apologies, thedogcody, if I have even remotely offended you. I was simply quoting from Shakespeare. And I did use the first person plural, as well as an exclamation mark..
I was going to say, "No coward soul is mine", ( E Bronte), but I feared a reader might imagine I was implying that his/hers was.
When I'm unhappy about something; when I feel something is hurtful; when I sense something can be saved from destruction, as in this instance our gardening community, I believe in ASKING and in KNOCKING to be heard and, hopefully, let in!
There's nothing to lose; so, why don't you write to Peta asking if we too could be treated with the same consideraration as those who who sought to establish the non-麻豆官网首页入口tv chat thread?

Having been on the 麻豆官网首页入口 boards for 12 years fought many a battle with the powers that be and won the odd very small victory I know when it is time to move on.
We lost the 麻豆官网首页入口 WW2 Peoples war, then we lost the famous OTGW chat lines, the History board, the cookery board and now this.
