Before this excellent site goes to the electronic graveyard I thought I ask what is this best used for? I tend to use it all over my garden but it struck me that if it lacks what ever chemical for flowers I should perhaps change my usage. I rather have toms than leaves!
Or is this down to the diet of my wormery which is 90% lapsang tea laves...
I don`t know the technical composition of worm tea, swedboy, cos I`ve never used it. But, being a long-time gardener, I`d just look at the plants, and if they look healthy, and are producing as they should, I`d conclude that they are getting all the nutrients they need.
In which case, I`d carry on as normal.
They all look healthy but last year the toms did badly. Not sure if that was the weather or feed. They were also most self-seeded.
If they self seeded outdoors, they would be quite late, so maybe not enough time to grow.
My friend has a very warm, sunny garden in summer, and he gets self-seeded toms growing in the soil, but they never amount to much.
Toms have to be started indoors, round about now, or a bit earlier, to do well. They also have to be kept warm all through their growing time, (both day and night) otherwise, if they get cold, they just stop growing.
Did I say F1.... I usually start them indoors but cant remember if I did that or not. Anyway they were utterly rubbish as offspring of F1 are supposed to be.
This year I have started them off indoors but have had a bit of a damping off disaster... The ones that are still with me will be buried to the true leaves as recommended by most people.
