I,ve several plants with stalks about 5ft high, loads of flowers. What is the best way to look after them over winter ?
Just leave them be. If it's a mild winter, the stems may get frozen but the base will be OK so you just cut off teh stalks next spring and they'll regrow.
If it's a hard winter, leaving the stems increases the likelihood of them self-seeding and coming back where they're happy. Mine do that and thus survive weeks of -20C and some colder nights witha nd without snow.
