Due to where I need to site this/these I'd like something decorative & wondered about the "beehive" ones.
Does anyone have any experience of them please?
I've read several online reviews about different makes, all of which refer to delivery/robustness etc & none to their effectiveness.
I originally posted this on the "grow your own" thread, but maybe nobody there has this type of bin.
Cheers,
Jean.
I saw your question and thought someone would point you in the direction of this-there a helleva lot of postings but it may answer your question if you haven't read it up to now

Thanks very much Geoff; boy there's some bedtime reading there!
Don't know if you saw my message on the grow your own thread, but as I said I have 2 beehive type bins and find them really good. haven't got enough space to have a big bin, or to hide them for that matter so they work well on both levels

Thanks again Tobyjojo, just been on the other thread & replied there.
Looking at various makes,(and various prices!) this type look as if they are narrower than some "ordinary" ones, but they obviously work well for you, so I think I have an excuse to spend some money now!
Do get a stirrer! They are great for aerating Dalek bins. Last time I looked you could order one on line for just over a tenner. You just shove it down like an unopened umbrella, and when you draw it up two short blades open out and let air in, which speeds up decomposition. I do mine once a month, maybe a bit more often in summer when I am chucking in lots of grass that might otherwise form a soggy clump.
Even better are the type that look like giant cork screws that you get from Wiggly Wigglers. Perfect for small bins like the beehive type that I have
Hi Jean
If you haven't done so already, check my reply on the grow your own thread xx

Hi Fran, they sound intriguing; I'll give them a look, I've only ever seen the umbrella types.
Thanks for your message on the "grow your own" I've contacted the beehive bin people & will keep you posted.
Jean.
