Hi
I've just been given two butlers sinks and would like to turn them into mini wildlife ponds. One still has a proper plughole (ie the metal circle is still in place) so I am hoping to just buy a plug and let it fill with rainwater - will this work or do I need something extra to reinforce the plug? The second sink doesn't have the metal circle in the plug hole and the dip where this would sit is slightly chipped, so if I brought the metal circle part I don't think it would sit tight. Can anyone advise the best and cheapest way to make these sinks completely water tight? Also any other advice on making this type of pond would be gratefully received! I have found lots of info on the internet about keeping it in dappled shade and using rocks to ensure creatures can get in and out but would love any other tips,
Thanks
Tina x

Hi tina48,
you would be better to line the sinks, a black rubbish bag slit along side and bottom would probably do. Do that to both as the plug will probably perish through time.
Don't put them near or under trees if you can, leaves will just collect.
Keep it topped up.
Better filling them with bucketfuls of water could take ages to fill with rainwater.
*Two or three bricks with a flat stone on the top.
Are you going to sink them into the ground ?
*depending on how deep your sinks are.
