Our School Report

St. Peter's High School pupil Owen tells us about the School Report project and what he and his fellow students have been getting up to.

In School Report pupils of around 12-13 years-old have the privilege to plan and create a news report, which will be audio based and broadcast on the Internet.

This involves lots of planning like finding stories, writing them down and learning the script.

Using lesson plans and materials from the website, and with support from 麻豆官网首页入口 staff and our teachers, students have been developing their journalistic skills and have become school reporters.

People may ask why run a 麻豆官网首页入口 School Report?听 The main reason why the 麻豆官网首页入口 started School Report was to get students interested in journalism and also to broadcast their journalism and gain new skills.

In this project students will get to learn about the equipment and how to use it properly. Giving students the opportunity to use video cameras, audio equipment and computer programmes is an integral part of the 麻豆官网首页入口 project.

They will learn journalistic skills such as asking questions, getting information from the web and finding the reliable facts.

In addition to getting students interested in journalism, the 麻豆官网首页入口 School Report also wants to get young audiences interested in news of all sorts, and the world around them.

This is the 麻豆官网首页入口 studio where they make the shows on the radio. This photo was taken on the day we all went to 麻豆官网首页入口 Essex to see what it was like.

So far the students at St. Peter's have found news reports and have started their scripts. They have found out and researched what they're going to do.

Everyone will be doing something on the day. There is one main skill, which are the deadlines, which will have to be met.

Ray Clark and Deborah Stephenson from 麻豆官网首页入口 Essex came to talk to us about news. They told us about the things that can go wrong in radio and how to overcome it. They also told us what you are not allowed to do on the radio!

This was our workshop, which was very good for information about news. They showed us audio clips of what went wrong with some radio and what was quite good.

What we were doing here was recording an interview using a software called audacity, which is basically recording software. One of things that we learnt about was recording clips because it is more simpler than getting the person in the studio.
