Pupils from Tendring at 麻豆官网首页入口 Essex

Roving reporters

Tendring Technology College is getting ready for the 麻豆官网首页入口's School Report Day on Thursday, 26, March. As part of the training students from the college visited 麻豆官网首页入口 Essex for a tour of the building and to see what journalist's do.

For students from Tendring Technology College, in Thorpe-le-Soken, School Report Day is a chance to improve their confidence and English language and writing skills.

The day takes place on Thursday, 26, March but before they go live students have been rehearsing and making films and reports to polish their skills.

India and Grace both went along to film Walton-on-the-Naze as part of a report about erosion of the coastline.

Grace says: "It's very interesting to learn about the news, as it happens everyday."

Once they'd filmed their pictures the pair recorded their material onto a computer, "We put all the stuff we'd taped into a movie maker and added a couple of pictures we took and it was shown to everyone," said India.

Whilst waiting for their film to be shown to the school Grace admitted it was tough: "It was very nerve-racking."

George and Nathan made a podcast about the carbon footprint of the college.

"We interviewed the person who sorts out the energy bills at the school and the deputy headteacher," explained George.

"We recorded it using an Apple Mac notebook and then we edited it on the Mac" said Nathan.

He went on to say:听 "Using the equipment was good as we hadn't tried the programmes before, so that took a bit of time."

All four have had their interest in journalism sparked by the experience and think they'd consider a career in the discipline.

And just like proper journalists, George and Nathan wouldn't reveal any tip-offs and exclusives they'd found for School Report Day 2009!
