A programme exploring every facet of the orchestra from Debussy鈥檚 exquisitely languorous and erotic ballet Pr茅lude 脿 l鈥檃pr猫s-midi d鈥檜n faune, Honegger鈥檚 invigorating paean to the game of rugby to Elgar鈥檚 famous Enigma Variations, in which he so deftly and movingly enshrined the characters of his friends. In between, gifted French violinist Renaud Capu莽on gives the UK premiere of Pascal Dusapin鈥檚 Violin Concerto, which promises sonic experiment married to emotional directness.
