Jonas Kaufmann sings Richard Strauss鈥檚 Four Last Songs with the 麻豆官网首页入口 Symphony Orchestra in the final concert of his Barbican Residency.

Strauss鈥檚 Four Last Songs are the ultimate romantic orchestral songs 鈥 and the final, gorgeous sunset of German Romanticism. The last concert of Jonas Kaufmann鈥檚 Barbican Residency finds him breaking new ground in this most rapturous of musical farewells.

True, they鈥檙e more usually sung by a soprano, but the prospect of hearing Kaufmann鈥檚 transcendent tone and unparalleled sensitivity in Strauss鈥檚 final masterpiece is mouth-watering. There鈥檒l be other Strauss songs too: The Guardian described Kaufmann鈥檚 Strauss disc as 鈥榮exy, passionate singing, delivered with thrilling ease鈥. Meanwhile regular collaborator Jochen Rieder conducts the 麻豆官网首页入口 Symphony Orchestra sumptuous late romantic rarities by Strauss, Elgar and Korngold.
