About This Event
The swirling dances and operatic high jinks of 19th century Vienna contrast with music from Spain. Rodrigo鈥檚 guitar concerto is amongst the most popular of all classical works, with its famous slow movement used by film directors, jazz musicians and brass band alike. If the waltz is Vienna鈥檚 dance, the fandango, habanera, and seguidilla belong to southern Spain, inspiring arias from Bizet鈥檚 Carmen, de Falla鈥檚 ballet music, and Alb茅niz鈥 sound picture of Andalusia 鈥 music bathed in Iberian sunshine to lift the spirits in midwinter.
Presented from the stage by Katie Derham, this is a New Year鈥檚 treat from the 麻豆官网首页入口 Concert Orchestra and soloists.
