Concert Information

Andrew Griffiths conducts the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Singers in the world premiere of John Pickard’s Mass in Troubled Times. John Pickard's ambitious new work is a collaboration with the writer Gavin D’Costa, whose text draws on multiple sources in five languages. This includes the Ordinary of the Mass, original poems unfolding a fictional narrative of a refugee father and daughter fleeing their war-torn country by sea, a Twitter hashtag in Turkish, a passage from the Syriac Orthodox Church Liturgy and quotations in Arabic from the Qu’ran.

John's Mass is programmed alongside Ralph Vaughan Williams’s Mass in G Minor for unaccompanied choir.
